Once again we cannot fault the friendly, efficient organisation and execution from JG Theatre Club for our day cruise on the S.S. Shieldhall. The cruise itself followed the same pattern. Spending seven hours bobbing about in the Solent on SS Shieldhall seemed daunting, but it was nothing of the sort. There was certainly no bobbing! The weather was good and to be part of the flotilla watching the start of the Fastnet Race was thrilling, amazing, and lots more adjectives, but most of all a real privilege to be sailing on S.S Shieldhall with its proud Crew of Volunteers. Their generosity allowing passengers throughout the day to visit the working parts of the ship was incredible. Also appreciated the commentary giving local information on the various landmarks and history of the area. They seem to have found a perfect package for a day of nostalgia- from the greeting, eating, drinking, informing, and of course the sailing. Will certainly be telling our friends and family of our unique experience.
