Overview

Guy recently spent some time with the volunteers at The Heritage Centre in Rottingdean, a village he has passed through hundreds of times without really appreciating just how interesting a place it is. So, with the volunteers help, we have put together a day in the village that we think you will find fascinating. Come and hear about the connections with Rudyard Kipling and see where he lived before moving to Burwash and also the famous artist Edward Burne-Jones. See the wonderful Burne -Jones stain glass windows in St Margarets and explore the enormous cemetery with some fascinating headstones including that of rock guitarist Gary Moore. Find out where the board game Cluedo originated and where Cary Grant, Errol Flynn and Bette Davis stayed. We split into two groups with one group visiting The Grange, home to The Heritage Centre. Here there will be a short talk by one of the volunteers and time to explore the museum and small art gallery while the other group have walking tour of the village including the church. There will be plenty of time for lunch with a good choice of small cafes and pubs. After lunch the groups swap over. Time for a cup of tea before we head for home. Numbers are limited on this trip.
