Overview
This morning we make our way to the Surrey market town of Dorking where we have a break for you to explore this town that still retains a certain charm with many independent shops. Time for coffee and an early lunch before we continue our journey to West Horsley Place. At the heart of the historic West Horsley Estate is a Grade 1 listed Manor house with a rich colourful history and over 600 years of stories and secrets to share. Henry VIII, Elizabeth I and Guy Fawkes are among the fascinating characters to have walked the corridors. We have arranged a ‘Nooks and Crannies Tour’ which will take us on an historical tour of this wonderful house and explore hidden corners of the Manor House with our guides helping to uncover its rich architectural and ownership history. We walk in the footsteps of royalty and even get the opportunity to view the legendary red velvet bag said to have held Walter Raleigh’s head, displayed only on this tour!! The tour will last approximately 1hr 30 mins. Time for tea before we head for home. The Tiger Lily Bus Company serves proper barista coffee, tea, delicious cakes, sweet and savoury pastries, ice cream, and soft drinks. Everything is served from their charming vintage milkfloat, Winnie, parked in or near the courtyard outside Place Farm Barn.
