Overview

Christian Garrick (Violin) & Friends with the Brighton Philharmonic Strings.  David Gordon (piano, melodica)  Richard Pryce (double bass)  Tom Hooper (drums and percussion)  Eddie Hession (button accordion)  Adrian Zolotuhin (guitar, saz, domra).  In a concert of tango, jazz and gypsy-folk music this special programme features works by Astor Piazzolla, John Dankworth, Anne Dudley and Christian Garrick.  Leonid Desyatnikov’s now well established working of Piazzolla’s sizzling Four Seasons of Buenos Aires for violin soloist and string orchestra, compete with echoes of Vivaldi, was played by Christian with the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra under Barry Wordsworth in 2006. In 2005 jazz composer and saxophonist Sir John Dankworth was commissioned by the NYO to compose a new Jazz Violin Concerto which received its premier with Christian Garrick as soloist at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall. Other works this afternoon include an orchestral suite of Anne Dudley’s Poldark TV score, original pieces by Christian Garrick from his large scale 1996 album The Secret Light Show and a helping of folk-gypsy hijinks from the Budapest Café Orchestra.   If you prefer stalls seats for this concert please let me know on the booking form.
