Overview
This three day pre-Christmas Kent Winter Warmer has two days with a top notch local Blue Badge Guide, exploring Faversham, Whitstable & Canterbury the first day and on the next Rye & the Romney Marsh with the third day visiting Leeds Castle where you can enjoy this historic place with time for lunch.
Itinerary
Monday 22nd November
We meet the Blue Badge Tour Guide in Faversham at 10.30am. It's market day in Faversham - a small market for a small, ancient and fascinating town. The Blue Badge Guide will point out some of the exceptional number of listed buildings and old fashioned shop signs on a very gentle stroll that doesn't cover very much distance at all. We will have a bit of time for a browse in the market before taking a drive to Whitstable where we break for lunch. Achingly fashionable with the London set, Whitstable is also small and compact and very jolly. It is famous for its oysters. In the afternoon we drive to Canterbury for a short visit before continuing on to Folkestone to check in at the hotel.
Tuesday 23rd November
Rye & The Romney Marsh with the Blue Badge Guide. Including the beautiful Marsh churches and eerie Dungeness. We then have free time in Rye for lunch and some Marsh ghost stories and a visit to one of England's most unique pubs on the way back to the hotel.
Wednesday 24th November
We enjoy a leisurely breakfast and make a later start this morning. Our route will take us back across country as we make our way to Leeds Castle where there will be time to enjoy the castle and grounds and have lunch before we continue on our journey home. Please note the coach will drop off in Heathfield first and East Grinstead last. We expect to arrive back in the Maresfield area by approximately 16.30
