Overview

A fascinating and tasty day out. We enjoy tea/coffee on arrival before a unique guided tour at H. Forman & Son’s famous smokehouse. Smoked salmon is serious business at H. Forman & Son, the East End’s last smokehouse, founded by Harry Forman in 1905 and run today by his great-grandson Lance Forman. Hear about the history of this 4th generation family business and of smoked salmon, as well as Forman’s relocation during the 2012 Olympics (and political battle that ensued). Followed by Q&A. Our Guinness Book of Records Holder for slicing a side of smoked salmon in the fastest time, Darren Matson will give you a demonstration of how a smoked salmon should be carved (in lightning speed). You’ll also be shown the process that the salmon goes through from when it arrives at Forman’s’ (48 hours after harvest from Scotland) to when it leaves Forman’s as one of the world’s most luxurious product… Forman’s London Cure Smoked Salmon! We also enjoy a two course lunch (starter and main course) made by the team of award winning chefs  At the end of your experience you will have the opportunity to purchase the salmon and other items produced in the smokehouse. Menus will be sent out to those who book on this tour.

It is chilly down in the factory so we recommend warm layers of clothes and closed toe shoes.

The factory component of the tour requires the ability to stand.  They do have a limited amount of seating available
