In this political drama, Ben Brown tells the true story of unlikely friendship between the Red Spy and notorious Cambridge Circus mole, Kim Philby and author of ‘The Third Man’ and one of the centuries most iconic novelists, Graham Greene. Greene stood by Philby’s side in 1963 when he was exposed as a double agent, perplexing the country. Greene said that Philby just followed a higher belief in morality than country – his belief in communism. However, theirs was a friendship woven of deceit as well as loyalty. This play explores just how much Greene really knew of Philby’s secret life as a spy, asks whether Philby betrayed Greene as well as England and if so…did it continue into their final years? Time for lunch prior to performance.
