Overview

Autumn is a very special time at Marks Hall.  The Gardens and Arboretum feature a tree collection from all the temperate areas of the world set in more than 200 acres of historic landscape providing interest and enjoyment throughout the year. You can follow the paths through the Arboretum, where you can see beautiful vistas and a host of exotic trees from around the world. The Visitor Centre, housed in a restored Essex barn, offers information, a Shop and Tea Room serving morning coffee, light lunches (between12 and 2.30) and teas, with homemade cakes available all day.  Dramatic changes in leaf colour form a stunning Autumnal display.  Tree tints develop from late September right through to November, providing a constantly changing palette of colour. The Millennium Walk is planted especially for Autumn and Winter colour.  The deep red stems of the dogwoods along the lake bank contrast with the brilliant white of the Himalayan Birch trunks to provide spectacular reflections in the lake on still days.
